VisitEstonia has produced a brochure introducing Estonia’s national parks:

Haapsalu Sports Hall includes a modern sports centre complex. Here, you can play basketball, volleyball, and tennis in an indoor hall and, if the weather is warm, on the outdoor stadium as well. The sports hall includes a gym, an aerobics room, an indoor cycling room, and a fencing room.
The stadium includes:

• a soccer field with artificial grass
• an outdoor basketball court with a wooden floor
• volleyball courts on grass and sand
• two tennis courts
• gymnastics areas
• a roofed platform with benches for up to 900 spectators.

The centre also includes a hostel and is located next to Haapsalu Water Centre.

Hullo-Prästviigi hiking trail

Prästviigi lake is a closing up coastal lake and its springs worthy of visiting are located in its north edge. The lake is an important fish spawn for the fish of the coastal waters and a good source of food for the birds. Also, one can see various species of orchids there.
Good to know: The length of the trail is about 10 kilometres and the time needed for passing it on foot is 5–6 hours and by bike is 3–4 hours. The trail is mostly covered with gravel, hence it is more suitable for cyclists. You can also camp in Hullo and there is a viewing platform near the springs.

Läänemaa Health Path

Läänemaa Health Path is an almost 60-kilometres-long path for pedestrians and cyclists along the embankment of the Riisipere-Haapsalu-Rohuküla line. The road has been marked with kilometre posts and with pickets every 100 metres. When at the section between Haapsalu-Rohuküla you should visit the remains of Ungru Castle not far from the path. You can also see the old airfield in Kiltsi. When at the section between Haapsalu-Risti near Taebla, go visit the Laikmaa Museum and Koela Museum and Lääne-Nigula church. When near Risti, go and take a look of Marimetsa bog.
Good to know: The path is covered with a strong surface. Driving on the road is safe and you will be undisturbed by traffic.

Mihkli Children’s Park in Haapsalu

Haapsalu is a child-friendly town. On the corner of its main road and Mihkli Street you will find a cosy park where small kids can play on the slides and enjoy themselves on the swings. In summer it is a great place to just sit and relax – before taking a tour of the Old Town galleries or the Episcopal castle.

RMK Rumpo Hiking Trail

A 6,7 km hiking trail runs from Rumpo village on Vormsi island to the tip of a peninsula bearing the same name. There are platforms along the trail affording a great view of the Hullo and Sviby bays and islets that are marked nesting and migration spots for water birds. Additionally, Rumpo peninsula is a habitat for rare lichens from tundras.

Children’s playground on Posti Street in Haapsalu.

Haapsalu has been awarded the title of a Child Friendly City – the various playgrounds in the town are the proof of that. The playground at Posti Street is in the small park right next to the building of Haapsalu Town Government. The children can either climb, swing or play in the sandbox; the parents can sit comfortably on a bench and watch their children.
